money money money… sea treasure! (weekend school)


Helena and her friend collected 185 sand dollars… independently while spending hours out on the sea on boogie boards while their adults watched from a considerable distance and let them do science.

  • We counted them
  • We watched them
  • We talked about the small area they got them from, so how many are there… millions?
  • We looked them up when we got home
  • We put them back -looking after living creatures

We are now talking mark and recapture and statistics…

Oh and rotational symmetry 😁

These are comments and questions and just stuff being read, we are not talking sit down while I impart some knowledge to you stuff…. I may just have to model some kind of nature study though as my interest has been piqued, but I don’t want to take over.. na I want to know!
