H just wrote her first submission on a bill that is going before Parliament. The Fast Track bill – which gives 3 men (with an irrelevant set of skills) the power to override decisions of the environmental court… basiclly removes democracy, and means they can mine conservation land among other devistations. She cried when I read out what the act meant…. What she wrote was short but well written.

It is weird thinking that one of my requirements as a teacher is to teach children to be engaged involved citizens and then the adults (Government, councils, etc) refuse to listen to them and are even removing the rights for them to engage. Maybe I should be teaching a more boot camp style of obedience…. How can the kids not end up confused and depressed?

I hope she gets to speak to her submission.
