- most often we have not finished at the time the bell goes and can be mid train of thought, or just at the nitty gritty good bit. It is totally unsatisfying.
- the before lunch, Nayland college has a very late lunch (1:30 to 2:15) if you ask me, period is a total waste of time. H is so totally NOT in the mood.
– never, ever give your kid art lessons…. well mine seems unable to separate feedback from a criticism. She feels that it would be okay if there were other students as my attention would be dissipated rather than focused on her!
– a mixed model doesn’t work! When asked what period she would like next, she chooses in a way to avoid thinking (her words).
– teaching un-schooled kids who have had control over their learning sucks!! they really, really need to know the motivation behind doing any task and can’t see the point of writing random shite down.
– if you teach someone who thinks about teaching, prepare for your lessons to receive hard feedback. And never confess to planning on the hoof.
– one’s own child seems not to believe that their mother’s know stuff!!!!!! or maybe that is just mine.
– one’s own child delegates a lot of the being “ready” to their mother, roll of my eyes and a deep sigh.

– if you ‘teach’ something at a teachable moment, it is awesome and this can occur in the context of an enforced lesson.
– even kids who you know the work quality of, will try and get away with as little as possible effort on a task they are not into.
– the time alloted for morning tea and for lunch are not enough to get out of and into the kind of thinking schools require.
Just a note here on my apostrophe/punctuation use improvements; H read Eats, Shoots and Leaves, laughing her head off, and has informed me on what I DO WRONG. I am congratulating myself on knowing the perfect book to leave lying around for a pendant.
